  • Last post was actually from Thursday, but I don't know how to edit the date stamp....So I spent Friday doing Inspections and recovering. Had Allen help me paint G St. porch, earn some money for his paintball. Installed tax software on Anita's computer, then had supper with her and Kyle and his friends, headed home. This AM went to Kyle's last indoor soccer game, they won 11-2. Kyle played goalie most of the time, but he is good at it and seems to like it.  Headed home and changed, went to Waverly for an Eagle ceremony.  Some are really good, some aren't. This one wasn't. Oh well. Came home and changed, worked outside. It was wonderful outside. Put on my headphones and my tiny radio, and backfilled the posts for the Garage, and the water line trench. Then raked the water line trench down to the barn, and the electric line trench. Hopefully they will continue to fill in OK. Cleaned Willie's stall, boy was that overdue. Need to get straw now, used up the last I had. Worked up a good sweat doing that, came up and unpacked the new lawnchairs I bought last fall, set them on the patio out back. Sat down and brushed Smoky for a while, he loved it. They had been out all day, it was so nice. Rounded up stuff for the burn barrel and ran that while watching the sunset. It was calm and warm and glorious outside.  Finally came in and nuked a pizza, will watch Footloose here in a few minutes. I should be doing reports and taxes, but you have to have a break once in a while. That stuff will be here tomorrow, when it is 38 and snowing/sleeting/raining. I have to remind myself it is only February. I wish it were April. Well, best scram for now....

  • Well, time to rest for a few... running on two hours sleep in two days. I could do that stuff 20 years ago, but it is kickin' my butt today...it was well worth it. Did an Inspection yesterday morning, came right home and got on the computer, got it cranked out. Good thing I did. Didn't print it, had to get ready to go back into Lincoln for the trip...I had bought munchies and stuff last night between Burger Night and Bowling.... left them in the pickup all night, so they were thoroughly cold...grabbed the cooler, ran to Super Saver and found the Jones Soda, picked up Aja, then Mitch, then the pizza, and they let me use the warmer, which was unexpected and nice. We hit the road at 3:30, Mitch driving the first leg, Aja in the back and I was riding shotgun...Stopped at Sac n Fox on the way down...Aja took over and I was the backseat driver.... she got thru Topeka just before rush hour, we lucked out on that one...Got into Emporia at 5:45, called Chris, our local conspirator...met at the room so Aja could change, got tickets, met up with Tyler and Dan, and headed in. We were trying to stay incognito, but Mo spotted us prior to it starting. The play was great, everyone did a heck of a job. Sure gave me a lot to think about. Reminds me how different the generations are, we couldn't have had a play like this and discussed these ideas 25 years ago when I was in college. But I can relate to the bigger picture of domestic abuse, repression, fear, and other personal rights ideas that were presented. We snuck out of there and headed back to the dorm and munched on pizza.... it didn't stay warm but it was the thought that counted. We stayed and laughed and talked and enjoyed til 11, then headed back. Mo was very pleased that we made it down. Aja crashed in the back seat for a good part of the trip, Mitch rode shotgun and I drove, We stopped at Kickapoo nation for fuel, then again at Neb City for a potty break. We hit Lincoln at 3:30, and I was home by 4:10. Set the alarm for 6, got up and printed that report off. (Good thing I had it done, as it was due today) Met Allen for coffee at 7:15, probably should have ordered espresso! Got photocopies and dropped the report off at Neb Title, headed to JournalStar printing, picked up WB and Home papers, headed to the Airport, then to Seward. That was tough to stay awake out and back. I  delivered the rest of the Lincoln locations, then headed to Kramer for that Inspection. Met with her, we drove to Wilbur, and started in on the house. Since her main concern was the foundation, I suggested we start there, since if she wasn't happy with what she saw, we could stop there and it wouldn't cost her a Whole House Fee. That was the plan, the foundation was awful and she decided to back out. So she wrote me a check for $70, saved her over $200. I headed back towards home, stopped and looked at that loader on the WD parts tractor that Termaat has, then came home. Now I am shutting off my phone for 2 hours, and taking a nap. Then I can do the report for the foundation and send that off, get ready for two Inspections tomorrow in Fairbury and Plymouth, and finish delivering WB Beatrice. I will call Termaat and see what he wants for that loader, if it is reasonable, I think I might get it. Sure was cold today, but turned sunny this afternoon. Didn't warm up much. Supposed to be 57 and sunny tomorrow. I can't wait! Bye for now...
