Managed to get the bus moved to the Garage. Broke the tractor trying to move it, too heavy. Explorer just sat there spinning the tires. Pulled it with the other Diamond T, which was no small feat, considering how jumpy the clutch is. Got it to within 25 feet of the Garage. Bought a battery and tried turning the starter over with it in gear, hoping to slowly "winch" it up on the concrete. Starter not strong enough to move it, so I had to prime it and get it going....Kyle and I worked on it for 2 hours, finally got it completely on the drive.

Then we pulled the front wheels off, took those into Nebraska Tire today. Next will be to pull the drums and see how bad the brakes are. New hoses are in order, as are cylinders for sure. Found one bad tie rod end, I will pull the tie rod and take it to In-line, see what they can do with it.

Got the plugs, dist cap, rotor, and points today, ordered in a condenser, and got a couple drop down resistors for the points and gas gauge, when I convert it to 12 volt. Sure ran good when I got it fired up...but boy that thing is heavy. I can see that if it is even a little muddy, it is not going off pavement...if I ever got it stuck it would take a semi-wrecker to get it out. Nothing else I have is heavy enough to pull it. Tomorrow I am off to Kearney for the day, then Lodge in the evening. At least the weather is beautiful out....

  • aww look...Grump's sharing like a good little kitty...so, broke the tractor eh? Sounds like a good time...hope that it's not something that can't be fixed. Knew it was a heavy stinker when we watched the thing roll off the semi trailer...even with all of the other stuff on there it was a strain on the 5th wheel...looks like bug's having fun with his bike. Was talking with a customer the other day and she was telling me about her first bike and so on, she was excited for him. Sounds like a full day...wish I'd been up there for it too...-M

  • I also see that the furries are intrigued at the fact that there's something new in the driveway...funny how they always do that
